As I'm mapping out the goals and business plan for 2012 I have to look back

at the amazing year that 2011 was! I'm so thankful for so many moments and I've been also thinking of a little photo weight I have on my desk at the studio of me as a baby. I remember my Grandpa Waller having it on his desk in his library. I used to sneak into that library and look at all his books.

I'd found his box camera there as well and was fascinated!

It's been on my heart to find a special match for this product and after much research and

thought, I'm excited to offer these through the studio for 2012!!

As we launch into 2012 I am taking some personal time to get caught up

and get this year started with a fresh focus.

2011 was an amazing year that God blessed the studio with wonderful clients

and amazing couples!

This year my heart is in the joy we find in doing what we love and are called to do.

Josie is the first in "the joy project".

she has recently graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center.

Her passion for reaching the lost & unreached people have taken her to Argentina,

Brazil, Mexico, India, the Philippines, Peru & South Africa!

In March Josie will be relocating indefinitely to Brazil as a missionary!

I had the pleasure of spending some time with her at the studio this past weekend

and am honored to give her this send off!

Her joy in her calling is obvious

and we'll look forward to being encouraged by her updates as her stories of joy unfold!

I am very thankful looking back on the past year(s).

I thank God for bringing me through stage 4 endometriosis and a hysterectomy in 2008,

growing my business in 2009, the sale of my house in 2010 and giving me peace

through two studio moves in a year's time this past year.

2012 promises to be even better than ever!

I read recently,(like this morning ) that we are given more than 525, 000 minutes a year.

And I also read recently that it's good to start with the end in mind.

Looking back on 2011 and the common factor that I can attribute to the growth of my business and the countless answered prayers is exactly that...countless prayers.

Prayers for my family, my friends and my clients.

So with the end in mind...another great year,

I put my focus on Isaiah 2:17 "the Lord alone will be exalted".

Minute by minute...

I look forward to what 2012 has in store

and I pray the same for you!

Christmas Found!

As a little girl, I always dearly loved Christmas time, the story of baby Jesus, the carols, the lights, the smells & sounds...everything! But, after losing my mother and both grandmothers in the month of November, I have to admit that I've struggled with serious holiday blues.

This year I was asked to cover a Santa brunch at Hickory Hills Country Club 2 Sundays in December. Always very grateful for the work I do I took it, but was conflicted in that I was missing my church's Christmas program. I asked the Lord to forgive me and if he wouldn't mind showing up during the event somehow in some way. =)

From the moment I heard the sleigh bells I knew the Lord had sent a special angel to bless all of us that morning! Speaking with Santa before the kids arrived and hearing his stories of the children's lives he touches and makes a difference in in the surrounding hospitals lit the deep Christmas joy in me again! His dedication to the true meaning of Christmas (giving because Christ first gave for us) and living it out in his life every day was evident.

To quote "Santa"; "Christmas isn't just a one day a year celebration, but a spirit of giving that can live in your heart all year long." ...Thank you Santa

..."because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made Holy"~ Hebrews 10:14 Thank you Jesus!

a couple favs from last week's "just because" session. I got to know Kristy and her family a few years back when I fell in love with their property and they graciously let me shoot my clients there often. I had done Kristy's sister Kimberly's senior pictures under this tree as well so there's a sentimental attachment there for me. Most importantly I had the honor of capturing Steven and Kristy's special day...finding out the girl's dad was terminal, the wedding was quickly put together and held in January. I was blessed to capture some of their last images with their daddy. Having lost my own father, I know God puts certain people in our lives for a reason. How would you describe your day: Really it was a blur only because of all of the excitement. The day couldn't have been any more perfect. The weather was gorgeous with sun and blue sky. We were able to say "I do" in front of nearly 300 friends and family members. The wedding and reception was flawless (at least to my knowledge).

Ceremony Decor: The wedding was designed and decorated by Pam Maharg. She did a fantastic job!

Jon and Julie's lovely wedding and reception was held May 15th at Wellington Place catered by Dining by Design in downtown Springfield above the Gilloiz Theatre. It was a slightly overcast day which made for some great soft light in this beautiful venue!

Ash & Samantha Engagement Session

Ash and Samantha came in from Texas this past weekend for their E-Session. They will be getting married locally on Sam's family's property this coming May. They were THE BEST to work with and with Ash being in the military we set up our "home base" at the Hilton and went from there...couldn't have asked for a more fun, easy going couple!! Loved them!

This post has taken a while to get up. I love my work and I'm thankful every day for what I do. However, I am not a writer and this project certainly moved me so I apologize to the Pivac's.Angie Pivac called me in January for family portraits and was urgent in setting a date soon. Sara, her daughter had gotten her braces off and her husband Mike was getting ready to start aggressive chemo. Immediately meeting the family, I could see they were blessed with love, compassion, and a family unity and strength that was palpable. The family knew the odds weren't good for Mike to go into remission, however, the family wasn't prepared for him to die in a day due to infection. In the short time knowing them and what Angie has shared, I am inspired by the family's strength and their obvious faith through this horrific loss and monumental change to all their lives. I was blessed and honored to work with them.
